Bristol Rovers boss John Ward completes deal for Stoke City striker Ryan Brunt
Bristol Rovers boss John Ward says that new signing Ryan Brunt is just the type of 'old-fashioned' centre forward he's been searching for.
Ward has this afternoon agreed a deal to sign Brunt on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Premier League side Stoke City in a bid to bolster a front line that has lacked a physical presence following the departure of on-loan Bolton striker Tom Eaves at the end of last month.

Brunt, who stands at 6f 1ins, began his fledgling career in Bristol City's academy before joining Stoke in 2010.
He has since scored four goals in 38 appearances during short loan spells at Luton, Tranmere and, most recently, Leyton Orient, who were keen to take Brunt back to Brisbane Road after he scored three goals in nine starts earlier this season.

Ward said: "I noticed him when I was at Colchester and he was playing for Tranmere, so I have known about him for about 12 months.
"He has also played for Leyton Orient, so although he is only 19 he does come with experience of the lower levels.
He is a big lad and a line leader. He is what you would describe as an old fashioned centre forward, and he has goals in him, which is obviously important.
"I have said before that I have strikers here who need some help over the next 19 games, and I think Ryan's presence can provide what we are looking for and take some of the pressure off."

“I must admit both Rovers and City have recruited 2 very good Managers who know the lower leagues inside out. Gut feeling Rovers will avoid the drop, maybe a little too much work for O`D to keep the City from dropping but only time will tell plus it depends if O`D is given the funds that is do badly missing to bolster the squad with players who want to play for them
I cant wait for saturday weather permitting, long way up to Rotherham but I do feel that it maybe well worth it. A big welcome to our new recruits, may you wear the shirt with pride and passion
Come on you blues”

“Welcome to the club Ryan. Not many players commit to a club bottom of the league so I have to commend you for giving us a chance (where others have turned their noses up at us). Now for an experienced head up top and we I think our squad is more or less ready for what lies ahead. Oh and keeping O'toole!”
