Bristol Pitbulls maintain unbeaten start
ICE HOCKEY: High-flying Bristol Pitbulls face Streatham Bruins at Bristol Ice Rink tomorrow (5.55pm).
The Pitbulls maintained their unbeaten start to their league campaign with a 10-4 win at Wightlink Tigers on the Isle of Wight last Sunday.
The victory moved the Bristol side to third in the league standings.
Pitbulls got off to a flyer, racing to a 4-0 lead in the first period.
And, although the Tigers fought back in the second period – pulling back two goals, it wasn't long before the Pitbulls took control again – two goals in 35 seconds from Mike Smith giving the visitors a 6-2 lead.
Tigers' Mike Palin ended the scoring for the period with a short-handed goal, leaving the hosts trailing by three goals going into the final period.
However, the Pitbulls made sure of the victory thanks to goals from Marc Roy Smith, Sam Hayman and Liam Williams.
Jason Coles replied for the Tigers, but it was never going to be enough.
