Bristol Pitbulls player coach Rich Hargreaves in action against Cardiff
Bristol make the long trip to Chelmsford the following day (5.15pm).
Coach Richie Hargreaves said: "This month is make or break for us, We're playing back to back weekends for pretty much the whole of January.
"Swindon are a well-drilled and fast-skating team."
The Pitbulls were active off the ice during the Christmas break with the signing of three more players. Bracknell's Phil Dibble – the younger brother of Bristol net-minder John – 16-year-old youth player Miley McNama and Dutch player Jonatan Sherman have all joined.
Hargreaves added: "We have a lot of games coming up in the next four months, including the semis and, hopefully, the finals of the English National Hockey League Cup, so I moved quickly to bolster our squad.
"Phil and Miley are young, fast skaters who will benefit from the extra games.
"Shermanater was a real pick up for us. He is a class player who has played at a high level most his professional career."
