Bristol Olympians: Gymnast Imogen Cairns
The first in our series of profiles on Bristol's Olympic athletes is Imogen Cairns.
Imogen Cairns was just 6 years old when she was singled out as a future star by coach Liz Kincaid. Since then the two of them have been on a journey which has taken the Portishead gymnast from devastating injury to London 2012.

Imogen couldn't walk for several moths after breaking both of her legs shortly after her Olympic début in Beijing, but with the support of her coach, and friend, she won two golds and a team silver at the 2010 Commonwealth games.
Imogen's talent was apparent almost immediately says Liz but it's her ambition and work ethic which has taken her to the Olympics.

“Well she is "Lone_Ranger" but does it really matter? I am certainly glad Imogen is now part of Portishead and raising the town's profile, and more importantly than anything representing Great Britain. I didn't want the Olympics to come here but I have been enthralled by TeamGB's performance so far.”
