Bristol Manor Farm secure double
Bristol Manor Farm completed the Premier Division double over Frome Town with a 2-1 home victory to open up a three-point lead at the top of the table over second-placed Hallen.
"We deserved our victory and I was pleased with the way we defended in the second half," said Manor Farm boss John Black.
"It was only late in the game that they pulled a goal back when they pushed central defender Richard Cheeseman up front."
Farm went ahead in the 25th minute when Luke Clark released Brad Abrahams, whose shot took a deflection off a defender to beat goalkeeper Richard Fey.
They missed a good chance to increase their lead at the start of the second half when Ben Hiscox played striker James Lee into space a couple of yards from goal, only for Lee to fail to get a shot in.
But Farm made it 2-0 in the 56th minute when a long throw by Jordan Hazel was headed in at the far post by Hiscox.
Clark was unlucky not to make it 3-0 on the hour when his header hit the crossbar with Fey beaten before Cheeseman struck Frome's late consolation.
Hallen's failure to put away their chances at Bideford proved costly. Tom Collett and Richard Nelmes both missed a hat-trick of opportunities as they went down 1-0, Rob Francis scoring the hosts' winner after 27 minutes.
Brislington, for whom central defender Lee Jefferies made his debut after his move from Yate Town, were deserved 3-1 winners at Sherborne Town. They were always in charge after taking a seventh-minute lead when James Peart set up Danny Guibarra to score.
They made it 2-0 in the 15th minute when a Kye Mountford corner was flicked on by Jefferies for Jason Llama to score. Todd Winters then created the opening for Guibarra to add a third on the half-hour.
Guibarra missed a couple of chances to complete his hat-trick, with Peart and Russ Church also failing to put away opportunities before Sherborne scored a consolation through Phil Ormrod after 75 minutes.
Bishop Sutton continued their good run by taking a point from a 1-1 draw at Willand Rovers. They have lost only one of their last nine games.
After going a goal down 10 minutes into the second half, they deservedly equalised through Rob Dumphy after 65 minutes, the striker converting from the penalty spot after he had been brought down.
Welton Rovers were 4-1 winners at Melksham Town with goals from Craig Coles, James Billing, Andrew Tatley and Dean Evans (penalty).
In Division One, Cadbury Heath took the honours with a 3-0 victory at second-placed Bradford Town to end the home side's undefeated run of 18 games.
Cadbury Heath took a 30th-minute lead with a header from Dwayne James, Tony Perry was on target 10 minutes later from a free-kick and Ryan Bernard completed the scoring midway through the second half.
Luke James, Nathan Baird and Chris Astley scored for Roman Glass St George in a 3-2 victory at Westbury United but Longwell Green Sports surprisingly slipped to their fifth defeat of the season when they went down 1-0 at Bridport.
Marcus Maggs, Danny Hunt and an own goal by Minehead's Mike Mullen gave Hengrove Athletic a 3-1 home victory while Simon McIlroy, Jordan Cooper, Adam Grinter and Ashley Knight scored for Almondsbury in their 4-2 home success against Shepton Mallet.
Oldland Abbotonians squandered a two-goal lead given them by Joe Chandler and Wayne Pearce as Clevedon United hit back with goals from Danny McCall (2) and Danny Clarke for a 3-2 victory.
