Teaching is a lot different now to when Lord Mayor of Bristol, Chris Davies, went to school.

But he was given an insight at Waycroft primary school's open day.

More than 100 parents, governors and councillors joined him at the Stockwood school, which merged Waycroft Infant and Waycroft Junior in 1998 to see how their children's lessons differ from their own.

Head teacher Simon Rowe said the Lord Mayor was very taken with the school and stayed much longer than scheduled.

One parent wrote in the comments book: "We had a fantastic day watching such well-behaved and engaged children.

"It was lovely to see a school day in action and we were impressed with the quality of teaching."
