Bristol's Lord Mayor Chris Davies has donated his old clothes to the British Heart Foundation.

He visited BHF volunteers at Cabot Circus to donate his bag of clothes.

The charity has set itself a target of collecting 1,200 bags of clothes and other goods to replenish the stock in its shops.

The proceeds made from the shops help to fight heart disease by investing in vital research, funding heart nurses and providing defibrillators.

As well as clothing, shops sell toys, accessories, books, shoes, CDs and ornaments.

People are being asked to take their bags of unwanted items to the BHF shop in George White Street next to Fossil, before Sunday (Aug 23).

Richard Belt, centre director at Cabot Circus, commented: "The amount of donations so far is fantastic. It's wonderful to see the local community getting involved in the campaign for such a worthwhile cause, however we do still need your help to reach our target."
