The biggest organic event in Europe takes place at Bristol Harbourside next month, attracting 20,000 visitors.

The purpose of the ninth Organic Food Festival is to educate people how to grow and cook food in a sustainable way.

The event, which takes place on September 12 and 13, will see 250 organic exhibitors and celebrity chefs in action.

There will also be an array of organic food and drink, skin care, fashion, organic textiles, home design and tips on organic gardening.

Sarah Weiner, festival manager, said: "The Organic Food Festival gives thousands of people the chance to meet the pioneers paving the way to a secure food system – one that is dependent on the sun rather than dwindling reserves of petroleum.

"The future is here – and it tastes mighty fine."

Monty Don, new president of the Soil Association said: "Delicious food that nurtures our countryside and our future seems like a good idea to me, and this year's Organic Food Festival will be a wonderful celebration of all that is great about British food – health, taste and the best possible care of our environment. "
