A hat-trick each from Alice Baker, Charlotte Walker and Rosanna Blacker earned Wotton Rovers Under-12s an emphatic 9-0 win over a below-strength Longwell Green B side.

With both teams having not played for several weeks, it was visitors Wotton who looked the sharper as they put together some good, free-flowing football to overwhelm the home side on a sticky pitch.

Endless running from Elise Clements set up several Wotton attacks and solid defending by Jossie Buist and player-of-the-match Becky Hindshaw ensured the home side did not score.

Portishead Juniors A Under-12s were made to fight all the way for their 2-0 away victory over a well-organised and determined Weston St Johns side.

The first half was a tense affair between two teams playing their first game for several weeks, and both goalkeepers were called into action to keep the scores goalless at half-time.

A tactical change in the second half saw Portishead's Maisie Kincaid switching to left midfield, a move which reaped dividends in the 37th minute as she beat her marker and, from a tight angle, drove a left-footed shot high into the net to put Portishead one up.

The goal seemed to settle her side with Leanne Gainey, Jennie Mistry and Erica Marshall all shooting towards the target.

However it was Kincaid who doubled the visitors' lead following a swift exchange of passes with striker Annabelle Colston. Finding herself in a similar position to that of her first goal, she again struck a left-footed effort low into the net to afford her side breathing space.

Weston continued to play good football and create chances themselves as Portishead's captain Ellie Grey and fellow defender Cadie Dunn were given a tough test throughout.

In the final minutes, only a diving right-handed save from Portishead keeper Alice Pritchard prevented their opponents from scoring, although striker Taylor Gainey also ensured that Weston's goalkeeper was kept busy until the final whistle.

Jasmine Trueman celebrated a hat-trick as Downend Flyers A Under-12s got their New Year off to a good start with a 3-0 win against a battling Ashton B side.

Thornbury Falcons Under-12s returned to action after the long Christmas break and deserved better than the 2-0 Division A defeat inflicted on them by AEK Boco A.

Falcons' girls started well, passing the ball around crisply and supporting each other very well. But on a muddy pitch chances were few and far between for both sides, with the respective goalkeepers quiet for the first 20 minutes.

Boco eventually took the lead with five minutes left in the first half when they managed to breach Boco's defensive partnership of Blackburn and Stenning and their forward finished well from close range.

Falcons started the second half very well and had they taken their chances the end result would have been very different. Captain and player-of-the-match Charlotte Dukes drove her team-mates on determinedly while breaking up the Boco attacks, but for all their pressure, Falcons could not create clear-cut chances and were left to consider what might have been.

It got worse for them when Boco, against the run of play, scored their second with a simple tap-in 10 minutes from time but it was nevertheless a terrific effort by Falcons, who had been thrashed 7-1 in an early-season fixture by their opponents.

Frampton Rangers Under-10s A drew 1-1 with Boco A in a very committed and entertaining encounter.

Frampton conceded a scrappy first-half goal when their keeper Hariye Beydilli slipped in the mud, the ball trickling over the line to gift Boco the lead thanks largely to a great run by Shelby Lacey.

Rangers rallied and the lively Chloe Bragg scored the equaliser shortly afterwards.

Frampton continued to press for the winner in the second half but were thwarted by last-ditch defending. Captain Maddison Buss was magnificent and controlled the Rangers midfield while Ellie Todd worked extremely hard too, together with Connie Lanham, Jess Jefferies and Lauren Penny, while Rosie Williams and Paige Botta enjoyed super games in defence.

The dangerous Martha Howells fired a last-minute winner as Frampton Rangers B Under-10s fought out a narrow 1-0 win against a battling Portishead team, whose Chelsea Hill turned in a fine display. They also missed a great chance to salvage a point with the last kick of the game.

Ella Thresher (2) and Emily Cook hit the target as Downend Flyers Under-10s secured a 3-0 win over Fry Club, helped by a fine all-round display by Natasha Painter which earned her the player-of-the-match honours.
