A giant canvas showing Concorde on its last flight over Bristol is to be auctioned for charity.

The 4m x 2m canvas graced the wall of Thoughts greetings card shop on the ground floor of The Mall at Cribbs Causeway.

Owner Matthew Llewellyn, 26, from Newport, decided it was time for a change of decor. Rather than throw the canvas away, he has arranged a charity auction.

He said: "It is an iconic image of Concorde flying over the Clifton Suspension Bridge with hordes of people watching.

"Filton is the home of Concorde which is just up the road from our Cribbs Causeway shop and I thought it might appeal to collectors or to local businesses."

People can put in closed bids for the canvas from June 1 at the Thoughts shop in the Mall or its sister branch in George White Street, Cabot Circus, or by email to concorde@thoughtscards.com.

Bids will be taken for six weeks and the canvas will go to the highest bidder. The money will be divided between a charity that helps the victims of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and another charity.

Matthew and brother Adam, 29, opened their first Thoughts shop in Cabot Circus last year followed by Cribbs Causeway two months later.
