Crystal Palace Youth 3 Bristol City Youth 2: Bristol City's hopes of reaching the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup were ended by an extra-time goal at Crystal Palace last night.

Charlie Holness struck in the first added period to win it for the home side after an enthralling tie that had seen City come from behind twice.

Ibra Sekajja fired the Eagles ahead in the ninth minute, when he converted Joe Goldsmith's cross from inside the six-yard box, but Bristol City were back on level terms 14 minutes later, when Bobby Medjaboub struck.

He cut in on his right foot from the left wing and lofted a curling drive from 25 yards out over Palace goalkeeper Charlie Mann.

Medjaboub beat Mann twice more before half-time but saw one shot cleared off the line by a defender and another go wide of a post.

Danny Ball missed a good chance from close range for City at the start of the second half.

And Palace compounded matters further when they retook the lead on the hour, Alex Wynter sending a stunning left-footed strike into the net from 25 yards.

City needed to hold off an onslaught from the hosts as Jack Randall and Sekajja both tested Bradley from distance.

Palace enjoyed the better of the chances from then on, but they were made to pay for not adding to their lead when Medjaboub was fouled in the penalty area by Kieron Kenlock, and Ryan Brunt sent Mann the wrong way with the resulting spot-kick.

Palace struck again in the first half of extra time with Holness curling a 20-yard shot past Bradley's despairing dive.

Joe Lennox almost made it 3-3 late into the second half of extra time, but it wasn't to be for John Clayton's team.
