Bristol City youngsters see off Cirencester Town
A City team made up mainly of youth team players proved too strong for an inexperienced Cirencester side and three second half goals secured them a place in the semi-finals of the Gloucestershire Football Association Senior Cup.
After an even opening, it was the home side who took the lead on 14 minutes when Jack Digby and Matt Williams combined well to set up the finish for youngster Brandon Preece.
City pressed forward in numbers as the first half progressed but found Cirencester defenders Craig Curtis and Adam Corcoran resolute.
The equaliser came eight minutes before the break, Joe Lennox guiding the ball in after neatly swapping passes with Joe McLennan.
Carl Brown, on as a substitute for the home side, went close on several occasions at the beginning of the second half before City went into a 2-1 lead.
An attacking move involving Cirencester's Williams and Jason Welsh broke down and when the ball was moved quickly to the other end Ashley Kington cut inside to beat Tom King.
The City youngsters came on strong during the closing stages and made the tie safe with two strikes in the last 10 minutes.
First Joe Edwards robbed a defender before lobbing the ball over King from the edge of the box and then the same player netted his second goal of the game after good work by Rob Stanbolziev.
