Bristol City winger McIndoe closing on Sheffield United move
Bristol City wideman Michael McIndoe was last night in talks with Sheffield United over a move to Bramall Lane.
City boss Gary Johnson confirmed that McIndoe was absent from the start of pre-season training yesterday morning after an undisclosed offer for the Scottish wideman had been accepted.

Deal near: For Michael McIndoe
Former Yeovil star McIndoe was reunited with Johnson in the summer of 2006 after arriving at Ashton Gate from Wolves – but the Bristol City boss now expects a deal to be completed within days.
Johnson said: "Sheffield United are talking to Michael at the moment and that will probably happen within the next couple of days.
"I don't want to say too much about it at this time, because it has not happened yet and Michael could still come back here. Once it is done we will be able to talk about the reasons in greater detail."
McIndoe's departure was expected to pave the way for the arrival of Taunton-born Manchester United winger Lee Martin, but Johnson added: "That is unlikely to happen. He is a local lad and we did speak to Manchester United about him.
"We also had a word with his agent but he was very non-committal at that time.
"Lee is very close to Roy Keane at Ipswich. We showed some interest at first but realised that his interest was with Keane and so we pulled out of the running quite early."
Johnson, who has already made three signings in the last couple of days insists, however, that one more could be 'imminent' and that another two have agreed terms and could join Bristol City depending on the outcome of the McIndoe situation and other possible permutations. "We are hoping to get things sorted with one particular player as soon as possible," Johnson said.
"Terms have been agreed and he now has to make a decision as to whether he comes here or takes a very lucrative offer abroad.
"I should know about that one in the next couple of days and then there are two more players who have also agreed terms, but are awaiting a decision from me on whether they will be needed, depending on other circumstances.
"I think we will probably get a couple more in. We already have a squad that has got us there or thereabouts in the last two seasons.
"We have got some very good Championship players here already. We have to keep them and add more quality in areas where we need it."
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Adriano Basso has been offered a contract extension. The Brazilian's current deal runs out at the end of the coming season but Johnson said: "We'd like to keep Adriano around for as long as possible and we have made him a very good offer.
"There is no particular deadline but if these things drag on until near the end of the season it can sometimes play on a player's mind, and I would like things sorted out before then."
Former Bristol City star Scott Murray last night completed his move to Yeovil Town. The Scotsman has put pen to paper on a two-year deal to move to Huish Park.

“A "supporter" who bets on his own side to finish in the bottom 3 ? That doesn't sound like support to me, quite the opposite in fact.
Additionally, anyone who thinks that we will finish below Barnsley, Blackpool, Plymouth, Scunthorpe, Peterborough and several others is patently displaying a complete lack of knowledge of the championship.
Get down the bookies Marc - you'll get good long odds on us to go down - that's why the bookies are in business, to take easy money from mugs.”

“Mr T
Your comments are becoming more daft by the day. Now I'm to blame for City not being an successful club? I personally would say this was more to do with Bristol as a City not being fanatical about football, crowds have always been modest to say the least and as a result you don't get the investment required to succeed. Coupled with some shocking decsion in the board room over the years is probably a more balance and sensible view to Bristol's failure to succeed over the years rather than blaming other supporters not as worthy as your good self to watch City.
I'm not being difficult but I am being honest and not doing the usual football fan ritual of spouting nonsense every pre-season that this could be are year regardless of the fact that last season we were poor for large sections of the season!
The reality and facts suggest we will struggle. Naturally any City fan would be happy to be proved wrong.
Cheers”

“This is the frightening thing about our club, these type of negative "fans" are inherent at the club. Rovers have simialr problems and to me, it shows why Bristol football has often been a backwater, i mean City are in their best postion for nearly 30 years yet these "fans" are not happy at all. I just dont understand it. Achieve by Unity....not if these people have their way, more like fail by division!”

“Pipe down David, Henbury. What facts has Marc come up with exactly? You and he are the typical doom merchants who are predicting relegation next year. No doubt you'll find somthing to moan about when we are pushing for promotion in the new year!”
