Bristol City winger Albert Adomah more useful in central role for now says head coach Sean O'Driscoll
Bristol City head coach Sean O’Driscoll says he is unlikely to deploy Albert Adomah in his preferred role on the wing any time soon.
Introduced as a substitute for the injured Jon Stead 18 minutes into Saturday’s home game against Middlesbrough, the Ghana international was asked to play an unfamiliar central role just behind main striker Steven Davies.

Albert Adomah is having to learn a new role as Bristol City boss Sean O'Driscoll puts the interests of the team first
Rather than running at full-backs and trying to get behind the opposition defence, Adomah took responsibility for linking play, dropping deep in search of possession too feed Davies and help turn defence into attack.
Prepared to do a job for the team, Adomah adapted sufficiently well to his new role to score the first goal in a 2-0 victory and afford Davies vital support.

While acknowledging Adomah’s status as one of the most effective wingers in the Championship, O’Driscoll feels the former Barnet man is more useful to the team in a central role right now.
He told The Post: “We need to play with a short striker and, at this present moment in time, that is probably Albert’s best position for us.
“If we had played him out wide against Boro, he would have spent all day chasing (wing-back) George Friend.
“That would have been pointless. I might as well have played him as a right-back.
“He understands his role in the team and knows the reason behind it.”
