Bristol City today announced a recession-busting offer aimed at increasing crowds at Ashton Gate in the new year.

In a bid to halt a gradual decline in attendance since the economic downturn, the Coca-Cola Championship club is making half-season tickets available at a reduced rate.

City already boast in excess of 11,000 season card holders and are looking to cash in on the team's impressive start to the campaign.

Gary Johnson's team sit seventh in the table, just one point off third-placed Cardiff City, and recent form suggests the Robins are capable of mounting a sustained push for promotion.

Those fans who purchase a half-season ticket will be able to see City's last 12 home games in the Championship, beginning with the visit of Watford on December 28 and including the eagerly-anticipated fixtures against leaders Newcastle United and Severnside rivals Cardiff.

City are offering adults, pensioners, under-21s and students an opportunity to watch 12 games for the price of 10, while children under the age of season will pay £6.70 per match. Those buying a family half-season ticket will qualify for free entry for one child.

Group managing director Doug Harman said: "A half-season ticket would make an ideal Christmas present for any City supporter. By placing them on sale early, we hope as many fans as possible will be able to take up the offer.

"They represent exceptional value against existing general sale prices, and offer all the benefits enjoyed by existing season card holders.

"With the team riding high in the table, there is no better time to guarantee your seat for what promises to be yet another exciting season at Ashton Gate."

Seats are available in the Atyeo, Dolman and Williams Stands, with a limited number up for the grabs in the popular Wedlock Stand.

Half-season tickets can be purchased by calling 0871 222 6666 or in person at the Ashton Gate ticket office until close of business on Thursday, December 24th.

Supporters who are unable meet the full sum can take advantage of a new finance option which will enable them to pay in three monthly instalments.

Other benefits include free entry to reserve league games at Ashton Gate, free CATS membership, 10 per cent discount at bcfcmegastore and priority on away and cup ticket applications.
