Bradley Orr says the next month will almost certainly define Bristol City's season.

The Robins have taken four points from two games in December and will play a further four times before the end of the year.

A similar return from matches against Doncaster Rovers, Reading, Queens Park Rangers and Watford could feasibly re-establish City in the Championship play-off positions and set them up for an exciting second half to the season.

In buoyant mood following Tuesday's 3-1 triumph over Leicester at the Walkers Stadium, City will look to build momentum when they meet Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium tomorrow.

Experienced defender Orr, back in the side after recovering from injury, believes now is the time for Bristol City to make their move up the table.

"We have a really tough December and playing lots of games during the Christmas period is always hard," contends Orr.

"But it is also a month which, in some ways, can define a club's season. If you have a good December in a league as close as the Championship, you can easily find yourselves in the shake-up come January.

"It's all about the run-in once you get to the New Year and we need to be there or thereabouts.

"Every team is going to have a bad run at some time in the Championship, because it's so competitive. We've had our bad run and now it's time to get ourselves back up the table and into a strong position to challenge in the New Year.

"We're already in a decent position – eighth place and just a point off the play-off places – and now we have to keep ourselves in the hunt."

City have embarked upon long unbeaten runs at this time of the year in each of the last two seasons and Orr is confident he and his team-mates can produce something similar this time around.

He said: "If we can do the same thing again, it (promotion) will definitely all be there to play for.

"We just need to stay a bit more solid and be more consistent than in the last couple of seasons. If we can do that, then we'll have a great chance.

"We've spoken about how strong the squad is this season and people are saying it's the best they've seen down here for a long time. I agree with that and it's now about utilising the squad in the best way by finding a shape and a way of playing that suits the players."

Doncaster may be six points adrift of Bristol City and in the bottom half of the table, but Orr insists relative positions mean little in a division as competitive as the Championship.

He warned: "Being ahead of Doncaster in the table won't mean a thing come Saturday. I think the only thing you can expect in the Championship is the unexpected.

"It's unpredictable because there is so little between all of the teams and I don't think people are surprised anymore when a club near the bottom beats one at the top.

"Blackpool won 3-0 at Middlesbrough in the week and no-one would have expected that.

"I know people look at the league table and think we should be beating sides in the bottom half, but the Championship just isn't like that and we're expecting a hard game at Doncaster."

Left-back Jamie McAllister has recovered from the gashed shin he sustained at Leicester in midweek and is expected to feature in a starting line-up that is expected to show just one change due to the suspension of Dutch midfielder Evander Sno.

    “Gary.

    Sno is suspended this weekend.
Straight swap for Clarkson please, then go 4-4-2.

That is all the changes you need to make for Saturday.”

“GJ really applauded the supporters at Leicester after the game, had you been there you would have seen that! I dont blame him for staying silent as everything he says gets twisted and turned into something else usually wholly negative! Let him concentrate on the football side of things, which im sure he does and btw I doubt he picked the side based on the fans opinions as no manager worth his salt would do that. Of course, he couldnt play Brad or Sproule of late due to their circumstances, please dont be so silly when posting such drivel its easy to be boastfull with the benefit hindsight, its also very tasteless...reality check please!”

“It's simple Garry picked the formation that everyones been crying out for, puting the right players in their correct positions. If this had failed he would have told us so,but it would have been nice to aknowledge supporters for once, done this a few months ago and just maybe we might be topping the league instead of losing all those games with incorrect selections and silly substitutions. If he goes back to this stubborn procedure we can kiss the playoffs gooddbye.”

Spot on that man. I have no doubt we have the talent within the squad to be in with a shout.

Let hope the man with the decision get it more right than wrong from this point on.

    Fingers crossed eh!”
