Albert Adomah was back in training with his Bristol City team-mates today – after an absence of six weeks.

Back from African Cup of Nations duty with Ghana in South Africa, the 25-year-old winger is now available to help City's fight for Championship survival.

He made five appearances for Ghana, helping the Black Stars finish fourth, and is now hoping to play a part in Severnside derby clash against Championship leaders Cardiff City in the Welsh capital.

Robins first-team coach Richard O'Kelly said: "Albert's back with us from today. He's got a big smile on his face, he's very happy and it's great to have him back."

Adomah today met O'Kelly and new head coach Sean O'Driscoll for the first time, both having been appointed while he was away.

Although O'Driscoll has expressed a desire to work with the former Barnet winger, it remains to be seen if he goes straight into the starting line-up at the Cardiff City Stadium.

In his absence, City have won three out of their last four games, including an impressive 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest last time out.

What do you think? Should Adomah go straight back in or should O'Driscoll name an unchanged side for the trip to Cardiff?

“Looks like Kilkenny & Howard will be on the bench with Albert.

Carey is out and Skuse is 60/40 (Again pronanly on the bench)

We need a replacement for Taylor especially with Baldock carrying a niggle.”

“Bristol Post journalist Andy Stockhausen back in print- but should he be constantly recycling interviews and stories?”

“I would use Albert as a " last twenty minutes" (no less because he seems to need time to get into a game) impact player for a week or so to see how that goes.
A lot seems to have gone on since he went away, and SO'D also needs to have a good look at him to see how best to use him.
But, with all his meanderings, we must not overlook the fact that Albert can tie up two or three players on the opposition side when he's on form, which provides space for the others.
Oh, and we still urgently need a commanding RCDefender.
I sincerely hope that SO'D is not a "fingers crossed, hope for the best" manager.”

“The answer is, it depends who's fit.

Assuming Carey & Skuse are still injured. We know Kilkenny & Taylor are definetly out.

If Baldock & Davies are fit, I'd go with this team:

    4-5-1/4-3-2-1:

    .........................................HEATON........................................

    MOLONEY...............FONTAINE.................NYATANGA...........CUNNINGHAM...

    .............KELLY....................ELLIOTT..................PEARSON...................

    .....BALDOCK..................................................................ANDERSON.....

    .....................................STEAD................................................

    SUBS
    GERKEN
    ADOMAH
    DAVIES
    REID
    BURNS
    WILSON J
    FOSTER”

“I think he will start on the bench and then we can unleash him from the bench. I agree with Vonner just hope we are still in the game with 20-30 to go.”

“I have an interesting point to make about playing Adomah.
In his absence the side has been better balanced and more solid holding a good shape.
Anderson has played well and is better in the defending midfield role than Adomah, being more gritty and stronger.
When we played Albert we were always passing the ball to him (understandably as the rest of the team did not know what to do with it) and that left us not only lopsided in our play, but also it was easy for opposing teams to predict that the ball would come over to Albert more often than not and they could easily cover the danger.
For the next couple of games I'd like to see Albert as a sub.
Play tight and hopefully keep a clean sheet (or a level score) until late in the game - then bring on Albert - and let him do the business creating wins for us.

“ALbert on the bench and see how it pans out. Would be a great impact sub with 20-30 minutes to go...”
