Bristol City reject Crystal Palace bid for winger Albert Adomah
Bristol City have rejected an undisclosed bid for star player Albert Adomah from Championship rivals Crystal Palace.
As revealed in The Post on December 19, Eagles boss Ian Holloway is a big admirer of the Ghana international and sees him as an ideal replacement for Wilfried Zaha.

The teenage winger was today completing a move to Premier League leaders Manchester United, who have agreed a £15m deal with the South London club.
Although Zaha will be loaned back to Palace until the end of the season as part of the deal that takes him to Old Trafford, Holloway is looking for a long-term replacement.

Palace will receive £10m up front for Zaha and will use a percentage of that money to test Bristol City's resolve.
City today confirmed they had received a bid for Adomah, but declined to give any more details.
A club statement said: "Bristol City FC can confirm a written offer has been received for winger Albert Adomah.
"That offer has been rejected. The club plans to make no further comment."
City are refusing to put a valuation on Adomah's head, but The Post understands they rejected a verbal offer of around £2m made by Swansea last summer.
Currently on African Cup of Nations duty with Ghana in South Africa, Adomah has 18 months of his Ashton Gate contract to run and City are unlikely to let him go for anything less than £3m.

“@ oldbristolian:
I understand that Barnet have a sell on clause.Another reason that with 18 months left on his contract, I would ask for a minimum of £5m+Add ons or put another way, 33% of Zaha's value.
@redferryman1:
His agent can do what he likes we've got an 18 month contract so tell him to get us at least £5m net or wait 18 months-He'll soon move his harris.”

“Not Crystal Palace again!
After Bolasie (despite the behind the scenes shenanigans) they must think we are a soft touch.
Albert Adomah is always going to be a target as long as City are in the position that they are, and sometimes things are inevitable. The important thing is to ensure that any move is to the long term benefit of Bristol City FC and not just a move to bring in some "fritter" money.
And somewhere better than Crystal Palace ... please!”

“I agree with the driver, Albert is a fully established goal scoring international now. He will have plenty of offers coming his way. Palace will be a stepping stone for this promising young lad and Olly knows that.
What do Brentford have on his contract?
Please do not let this turn into another Maynard circus.”

“it's all happening today isn't it fellas. Still a week left in the window and plenty more offers will come rolling in for AA now he's playing for the black stars in a major tournament. I agree with the other comments let him go if the price is right, we'll never be able to keep him anyhow if he doesn't want to stay.
Just a thought, I wonder if we have any scouts over here. There's some great talent on show in the AFCON and the Cape Verde islands (population 500k) are pulling the wool right over peoples eye's here. Not a bad side at all!”

“Why should Albert be in a rush? I expect his agent to pull the strings and meanwhile our under contract Ghana International who played for 80 mins in the victory against Mali is also likely to be starting in the quarter final next week. CP could be left behind in the race but in any event I can't see another Maynard fiasco. We need the money and good luck to the guy, he is our best player by far but....... not so good that he prevented us from being the basement club and not so great that he can keep us up.
So McFadzean is no longer a City target (for the time being at least) as he is unlikely to play again this season. No bad thing and it will give the Crawley Chairman a lesson in humility.”

“Once Albert's agent gets wind of Palace's offer, sadly it'll just be a matter of 'when' he goes. He'll be sorely missed....”
