Bristol City receive £300,000 for Brett Pitman
Bristol City have banked £300,000 from the sale of Brett Pitman to AFC Bournemouth.
The 24-year-old striker completed a permanent move to the Cherries on Thursday following a successful loan spell at the Goldsands Stadium, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal.
Although former Robins boss Keith Millen paid £800,000 for Pitman's services in August 2010, City will regard the sale as good business for a player who would have been out of contract at the end of the season.
City boss Derek McInnes is now expected to be given cash to fund the signing of at least one central defender.

“another massive loss - half a MILLION - on a player, who, on top of that, was barely used over the last 6 to 9 months.
it's another indictment of city's appalling - way more than 'disappointing' - way of doing transfer business
only players i can think of in the last TWENTY years who went for over a million in profit were andy cole, jim brennan, david cotterill, leroy lita and ade akinbiyi
no wonder the overall financial losses reported are so colossal. it's unsustainable and a real indictment of the total lack of trading ability.”

“The most recent in a long line of players who join on big wages and a large fee only to fail and leave for a lot less.
Maynard improved, succeeded and still left for £600k less than we paid with the club rejecting an offer of over £6m for him earlier in the season.
I'm not displeased with the £300k and the £60k, as I said at the time, being wishful thinking on Bmths part, however, overall, our transfer dealings have been disappointing for many years.
Nyatanga, Stead & Skuse are all OOC in June so I wonder what we'll get for them?”

“Bristol City should be doing this as a rule. Well, not buying for £800,000 and selling for £300,000 but giving a chance to young players like NextStars´a then selling them. A true showcase club to bring in success without financial ruin.”

“I was expecting it to be a lot less than that. That's pretty good business for a player soon to be out of contract. Fair play to Brett as well, he could easily have seen out his City contract in the hope of getting a better deal in the summer. Fingers crossed we don't waste the money on more average players who will just sit on the bench!”

“Not a bad sum for Brett. It'll be nice to see him again at Aston Gate with Bournemouth next season ?”
