Bristol City have moved on from Leicester setback, says Clarkson
Bristol City striker David Clarkson insists he and his team-mates will not dwell on the last-gasp goal which cost them victory against Leicester in midweek.
Without a win in their last six Coca-Cola Championship outings, City were denied a much-needed three-point haul when Lloyd Dyer conjured an injury-time equaliser less than a minute after Clarkson had fired the Robins in front at Ashton Gate. Although the result leaves City 16th in the table and nearer to the relegation zone than the play-offs, Scotland international Clarkson believes the plusses far outweigh the minuses.

"We're professional footballers and there's no way we're going to throw our toys out of the pram and sulk after letting in that late goal," declared the summer signing from Motherwell.
"Of course, the lads were all disappointed, because we were so close to winning the game, only to have it taken away from us at the death. But we cannot allow ourselves to get into a situation where we are down and feeling sorry for ourselves.
"These things happen in football and we all recognise that and realise we have to get on with it and move on. We have to pick ourselves up, look to the next game and take the positives from what was a very good second-half display.
"It's disappointing at the time, but we have to remember that we worked very hard, played some good football and created a lot of chances against one of the teams in the promotion hunt.
"We showed determination and desire and that was our best performance for some time. If we keep on playing like that, I'm sure we will get results.
"It gives us something solid to build upon for the weekend."
It is still too soon to ascertain whether Clarkson's third goal of the season will prove to be a turning point for a City side which has dropped out of play-off contention after winning just twice in 19 games, but the Scot is convinced Tuesday's improved performance will help restore lost confidence ahead of Sunday's BBC-televised clash with Championship title contenders West Bromwich Albion.
And he insisted the Ashton Gate crowd again has a key role to play as City seek their first victory against the Baggies in four attempts since returning to the second tier three seasons ago.
He said: "The crowd were brilliant the other night and they really helped make a difference.
"There is no doubt about it, the support they gave us helped the boys.
"We want them to come here in numbers, give us their backing and cheer us.
"It was a pity we couldn't give them the three points they deserved, but it felt good to be clapped off the field at the end of the game.
"That kind of support can only help us between now and the end of the season."

“From The Guardian Fiver. "Weymouth fans are being offered free entry for Tuesday's game against Braintree Town as an apology for being tonked 6-0 at home by Basingstoke Town in Conference South. Visiting striker Mitchell Bryant scored all six goals, a Conference record. "This is not what we at the football club expect and you as paying fans do not deserve it," said Weymouth chairman George Rolls. "”

“I disagree with Chris that the Scottish players we have are 2nd rate, Clarkson is a goal scorer as long as he gets games. Hartley is good enough to play Championship football too & Iwelumo could be a good signing. Mcallister may have neen out of sorts of late, but he is a good player if you get the best out of him.
I do agree though that it would be nice to see some more local lads coming through. Players like Cotterill & Matt Hill who have come back into the championship, should be coming back to us too. We've been after wingers & full backs, yet these two didn't seem to get a mention?”

“The only way we will "get over it" is by stringing a couple of wins together and pulling clear of the relegation zone.
The carefully constructed sound bytes emanating from the Ashton Gate media office mean little these days.
We hear this tough talk every Friday in a desperate attempt to put bums on seats, but we know full well then when the first whistle blows it is the same old sorry mess.
I¿m not knocking Clarkson ¿ I believe that under better management he could thrive in the Championship.”
