Bristol City will not be required to face former loan star Chris Wood when they take on Millwall at the Den on New Year's Day.

Lions boss Kenny Jackett had hoped the New Zealand international would be available to spearhead his attack in the Bank Holiday fixture.

But Wood has returned to the Midlands after parent club West Bromwich Albion accepted a bid for the striker from Championship promotion hopefuls Leicester City.

The 21-year-old striker, who helped City escape relegation last season, has agreed terms with the Foxes and is set to undergo a medical examination at the King Power Stadium.
