BRISTOL City's shirt sponsors Blackthorn are sewing the seeds of future talent at the club by backing a new coaching programme.

The cider maker will be funding the Community Trust's Coaches Education Programme which enables bursaries for aspiring young coaches. The Trust, a registered charity, will offer a programme of courses and workshops designed to meet the needs of coaches of all abilities.

They have also recently set up a partnership with the local job centre. Young people who have signed on and are not in education, employment or training. They are then referred to the Community Trust for a two-week course that develops their teamwork, communication, problem-solving and leadership skills. It includes a 'principles of coaching' course, employability skills and personal effectiveness qualification.

Once they have completed the course, they are given the opportunity to apply for a paid 'match day' role at the club.

What's even more exciting is that this is just the beginning."
