Bristol City fans hoping Brighton and Leeds can do them a favour
Bristol City head coach Sean O’Driscoll claims he never looks at the npower Championship league table and has no interest in what rival teams are doing.
But that does not apply to the players and the club’s supporters, all of whom will be united in the hope that Brighton and Leeds can do them a massive favour this evening.
-

Fellow strugglers Barnsley and Peterborough United are both in action and can move above the Robins if they win their game in hand.
Barnsley have played two games fewer than City and can climb out of the drop zone altogether if they beat play-off hopefuls Brighton at Oakwell, while Peterborough can also escape the bottom three with a win over Leeds at Elland Road.

City take on fourth-from-bottom Wolves in a potentially crucial encounter at Molineux on Saturday, a game that offers them an opportunity to move out of the relegation zone ahead of the two week break for international matches.
But for that to happen, they need Brighton and Leeds to come good tonight.

“@mancgas
I see a play on words is not lost on you.
Make any comparison you like, cold, hot, etc., gas attendances are poor when compared to City's.
As to stats, I'm simply relaying the facts that lay ahead. On a comparison of run-ins, City haven't got too bad a run when compared to others. When our current form is taken into account, this is good new for City. I do accept that this means nothing on a game by game basis (you only have to look at the results that Barnsley and Peterborough got to see that) but in the remaining run-in, well we'll see.
And as some have noted, it all went quite from the gas front when City won and Rovers lost over the weekend. Surprise surprise, Rovers win and we have the first tentative forays onto the City board.
City are still alive and kicking. We wont know the results of this season for a few more games yet.

“BCFCfinker (an oxymoronic name if ever there was one) -
comparing a sat game with a decent away following with a freezing Tues night game with few away fans in the midst of 4 home games within 15 days is hardly statistically fair now is it?
and we all know a relegation scrap towards the end of the season will actually be more attractive than a mid-table safety game.
there are lies, damned lies and BCFC statistics by the sound of things...”

“@Ashton8
Rub our noses in what?
City - still in Championship
Gas - still in L2
City - even though in relegation battle, attendance 13,524
Gas - sort of safe, attendance 5,111
Let me guess who's in the better position?
When it comes to football in Bristol (and soon we will be the only team in Bristol), City are the No. 1 team (even if we go to L1).
You comments indicate a rather big chip on the shoulder.”

“@by Ashton8:
I bet Higgs isn't laughing at the attendance 5,111.You could get all those into the Williams stand at AG
See my comments on your headlines and remember that it's better to be an '82'er than a League Two'er.”

“Piledriver and Harryreg - Good Evening to you both
1/ The Mem redevelopment gets approval
2/ Another great win for the Gas
3/ City return to the bottom of the table
I had no intention to come onto your site to rub your noses in it until I noticed your earlier
comments - you have to laugh though!”

“Barnsley won, Peterborough drew.
Bottom 3 all on 39 points.
Two from safety.
Barnsley have to play all of the top 6.
They have to play two from the bottom 8.
They aren't going to have a good run in.
Peterborough have to play 3 from the top 6
2 from the bottom 8
Wolves 1 from the top 6
2 from the bottom 8
City 1 from the top 6
3 from the bottom 8
Depending how you look at this, this is going to be an exciting run-in

“I reckon we'll need to pick up 8 points at home and five away to survive.
If we can start that process with three points at The Molineux then marvellous.”
