Bristol City's FA Cup clash against Bristol City is to make history and be the first third-round tie to be broadcast live only on the internet.

Bristol City are set to earn £72,000 after agreeing to move the kick-off for their FA Cup tie against Cardiff City on January 2 to 12.30pm so that it can be streamed live on the FA's website.

The Severnside cup derby on Saturday, January 2, is to be streamed free of charge on the FATV section of thefa.com website.

Millwall's second round replay against non-league Staines Town on Wednesday was broadcast live on FATV.

The Severnside rivals have not met in the FA Cup since December 1937.

Later in the day, Liverpool's visit to Reading will be live on ITV1 at 5.15pm. Then, at 1pm on Sunday, Leeds United's Third Round trip to Manchester United will also be broadcast live on ITV1.

This will be followed by the London derby involving West Ham United and Arsenal, on the same channel, at 4.15pm.

“Bristol City v Bristol City ...

hmmm tough one to call , I don't fancy either of them

I also think this not be the first 3rd round game to be broadcast only on the internet... you will be surprised how many games can be found on the live on the internet each week if you look hard enough. It may be the first officially 3rd round game shown on the internet.”

“Brilliant report !! and I quote
''Bristol Citys FA Cup clash against Bristol City is to to make history etc
If as quoted Bristol City play against themselves in the FA Cup then that alone will be making history let alone being on the internet - but at least we will have one Bristol City team in the next round”

“One other mistake, quite crucially we're playing Cardiff City not ourselves as the first line of the article suggests.”

“BEP, Please get your facts right. This is not the 1st game to be shown on the internet. The FA Cup game between Oldham and Leeds was the 1st!”
