Bristol City today rubbished a report linking Millwall with possible a move for striker Steven Davies.

The Daily Mail ran a story suggesting Lions boss Kenny Jackett was keen on taking the former Derby County man on loan to replace Chris Wood, who is set to complete a £500,000 move to Championship rivals Leicester.

But a City source claimed the report was wholly erroneous and insisted Davies, who signed from Derby last summer, would be going nowhere during the January transfer window.

Davies has made only five starts this season, but he has scored eight goals and proved effective when coming off the bench. He was left out of City's squad at Millwall today owing to tactical considerations.
