Bristol City boss Gary Johnson has decided not to give Martin Lejsal a contract and has released the Czech goalkeeper.

Lejsal, 26, played in three friendlies for the Coca-Cola Championship club in their pre-season preparations but, after a medical, City chose to let him return to FC Brno.

"His club were pushing for a decision early, as there has been interest from Heerenveen," Johnson told the club's website.

"We'll keep on searching and we have a couple of irons in the fire."

Dean Gerken, City's summer signing from Colchester United, will be in goal for the friendly against Wycombe Wanderers at Ashton Gate on Saturday. He will be joined in the squad by academy keeper Tom Bradley.

Adriano Basso, Bristol City's number one keeper last season has been transfer listed at his own request while his understudy Stephen Henderson is recovering from a toe injury.
