Bristol City players tried their hand at a new game as part of an initiative to get children fit.

The footballers joined youngsters at Hanham High School for a game of Ultimate Dodgeball to encourage them to think about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

They captained teams in an Ultimate Dodgeball match as part of the British Heart Foundation campaign.

Schools across the city are being encouraged to sign up to play Dodgeball to raise money for the charity and their own causes.

Philip Arnold, PE teacher at Hanham High School, said: "Physical activity is something that all children should embrace and enjoy.

"It is essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

"Ultimate Dodgeball is a great way of making exercise fun and accessible for children at school – all ages and abilities can play – while raising vital funds for the nation's heart charity and the school."

As well as the British Heart Foundation's Food4Thought campaign, the charity has also launched an online game to help children make informed and healthier food choices.

“This is the same football team whose newly-granted planning permission stadium plans include a drive through restaurant? Little bit of inconsistency there”
