Bristol City boss wants his side to be more clinical
Gary Johnson admits Bristol City must discover a cutting edge in attack if they are to have any chance of making the Coca-Cola Championship play-offs this season, writes Andy Stockhausen.
City wasted a chance to climb the table after being held 1-1 by Coventry at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

Manager Johnson spoke of his frustration after seeing his strikers squander a host of goalscoring opportunities to allow two points to go begging.
And he is ready to make changes when City return to action at Watford tomorrow night.
Leading scorer Nicky Maynard is struggling to be fit for the visit to Vicarage Road after he sustained a dead leg at the weekend, and Danny Haynes is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up.
David Clarkson pressed his claims, when he came off the bench to score a late equaliser against the Sky Blues, and Johnson says he will do whatever it takes for his team to rediscover their touch in front of goal.
Although City have bounced back from the 6-0 mauling at the hands of Cardiff to secure draws against Middlesbrough and Coventry, their lack of firepower is giving cause for concern.
City have scored just once in the last four outings, and Johnson said: "The only thing that is missing is that bit of quality in the final third.
"We had enough of the play against Coventry to have won the game comfortably, yet we've ended up having to come from behind and score a late goal to save a point.
"I thought we looked solid in defence and midfield and were all right until we reached the edge of their penalty area.
"We did everything we could to get up to the penalty area but didn't make their goalkeeper work enough. That has become a bit of a trait of ours' recently.
"We need to find that final pass or that decisive shot which creates an opportunity and it is not happening for us at the moment. We did enough in two thirds of the field, but couldn't open them up as often as we should have done.
"We need to be scoring when we are on top and that is the only disappointment really. We did well to come from behind and should probably have gone on to win the game, but you have to put the ball in the back of the net when you get the chance.
"You want to be winning your home games and it's frustrating that we've only taken a point. On the day, we didn't have that quality to get the three or four goals I thought our play warranted."
Maynard left Ashton Gate sporting a heavy strapping on his thigh and the striker is considered a major doubt for the trip to Watford, as is winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce, who pulled a calf muscle during the warm-up and had to be replaced by Evander Sno.
But midfielder Cole Skuse is expected to have recovered from a stomach muscle strain in time to be considered for selection and Johnson is contemplating making changes in his search for that elusive winning formula.
Substitutes Ivan Sproule, Haynes and Clarkson all made an impact after coming on in the second half on Saturday and Johnson admitted: "They've given me food for thought.
"I know where they all are in terms of fitness and match sharpness and I know who is ready for 90 minutes and who is not."
Clarkson's 83rd minute equaliser was his first Championship goal since the opening day of the season and Johnson said: "It was Clarky's type of goal. He gets in that sort of position with bhis sixth sense and we need players who can be in the right place at the right time."

“Being honest, I will be glad when we have reached the required number of points to say in this league.
Our play at the moment suggests that we have no chance of reaching the play offs, and I think most real City supporters will agree with me.”

“After losing to Hull in the play off final GJ said the next years target was automatic promotion - anything less would be failure. 12 months on, when City don't even make the play offs GJ try's to convince everybody City have had a good season by becoming an established Championship club. There lies the reason City cannot score enough goals - THE MANAGER KEEPS MOVING THE GOALPOSTS !!!”

“totally disagree with "no ambition" Trevor - every season the manager's backed with a decent transfer fund, it's just we're very poor at spending it.
If you want real lack of ambition look at the Gash - everythings done on the cheap!
Maybe if Sl didn't put up so much money each year we'd be forced to make more of what we've got, like for instance academy players rather than panic buys such as Agyemang!”

“No ambition Dave, that's City's problem.
All the players get it crushed out of them when they join.
A culture of "oh we are in the championship and we dont deserve to go higher, we were in division one a few years back"
Tell that to Phil Brown...”
