Bristol Bulldogs win speedway tournament
Bristol Bulldogs speedway team pulled off a remarkable victory over Leicester, Swindon and Oxford in a four-team tournament at Swindon's Abbey Stadium.
Led by the flamboyant Seman Vlasov, Bristol turned on the style and recorded 37 points, 10 clear of second-placed Leicester and 15 clear of the other sides.
The Bulldogs boasted a powerful quartet of riders, with Mark Burrows and Mark Simmons combining well with Linus Sundstrom.
And the young Swede's lightning speed from the gate quickly endeared him to the large band of Bristol speedway fans.
Bristol's 10-point cushion over second placed Leicester was well deserved and Glenn Cunnigham's side collected heat wins in seven of the 18 races.
After the match Cunningham said: "We really wanted to win this one for all the fans who have supported us. It was great to see so many of them here tonight and hopefully it wont be long before we can have speedway back in Bristol."
Work will continue over the winter in order to find a new track for the Bulldogs in Bristol.
