He said: “It was a surprise but a good surprise. You will see people will be pleasantly surprised by him.
“He is known to be someone who engages heavily in public life and is interested in social justice.”
He added: “I think because the majority of Catholics live in Latin America the new choice is acknowledging that fact.
“His experience will be an asset and I welcome the news.”
Pope Francis I is the first pope from the Americas, and the first from outside Europe in over a thousand years.

“Stuff the pope and the Catholic Church. I really cant see what all the fuss is about. What other organisation on earth is there that has so many pedophiles in it ranks? Why do people put up with the nonsense?
Would you trust a priest to babysit for your children ?”

“Hi @Lone_Ranger, thanks for finding that interesting quote.
That's the trouble when the two opposing sides in a war BOTH think that they have (the same) God on their side.
Perhaps he should have been concentrating on "Thou shalt not kill", and "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbours ox" (or islands).”

“Whilst Mr Bergoglio's views on the Falkland Islands are immaterial, his comments at the Argentine 30th Annivesary of the Falkland Island invasion are, er, "interesting":
"We come to pray for all who have fallen, sons of the Homeland who went out to defend their mother, the Homeland, and to reclaim what is theirs, that is of the Homeland, and it was usurped. The Homeland cannot exclude from its memory, anyone who was called; it has to take charge of so many hearts with scars, and say thank you to them, to those who stayed on the island or those submerged in the water, to all of them."”

“What are his views on Argentina's unjust claim to the Falkland Islands?
And the Falkland Islanders' recent overwhelming vote to remain British?”

“Meet the new boss, just like the old boss. An anti-abortionist, anti-contraceptives homophobe.”
