WOMEN'S FOOTBALL: Bristol Academy's run of tough away games continues on Sunday when they travel to Leeds Carnegie bidding to end their losing run.

Last weekend's 3-0 reverse at Everton was Bristol's third in the space of eight days and left them anchored second from bottom in the FA Premier League National Division. They are four points adrift of Birmingham City, who have played a game less.

Toni Duggan scored twice in the first half to put the Merseysiders in control, and Natasha Dowie completed Everton's victory with their third goal after 65 minutes.

Leeds won 4-0 at the Academy back in September and still have ambitions of mounting a title challenge – they have a clutch of games in hand due to postponements.

Once again, the weather wiped out a big swathe of matches across the West Country last weekend with the SW Women's League particularly badly affected.

But two of the outstanding ties in the Gloucestershire FA Women's Challenge Cup were completed with Bristol Academy's Development side cruising to a 7-0 win over Stoke Lane Athletic, while Eastern Division one side Downend Flyers went down 3-0 to Premier Division title-chasers Gloucester City.

Bitton will make another attempt to play their second round tie at Cheltenham Spa this weekend.
