Brislington end Avon's great run
Hanham Minor League Under-9s: Brislington pulled off a shock as they ended Avon Athletic's unbeaten start to the Division A season.
In a match that was a fantastic advert for the league, Brislington ran out 2-1 winners thanks to goals by Max Sawyer and Henry Hellings, helped by great performances from Declan Joint and Jimmy Sellick.
Liam Moore's wonder-strike also helped Brislington overcome Keynsham Town 7-1. Oscar Derrick, Rob Dibble, Patrick Walsh, Ciaran Dunford, Sellick and Hellings were the other Bris marksmen.
Warmley Rangers defeated Ashton Boys 9-2 in the top section. Rangers were quickly out of the traps in game one, striker Tom Withers heading the ball home from Jake Lacey's cross.
Two more headed goals from star man Charlie Shail and Joseph Vincent followed, then striker Tom Withers made it four when he volleyed in from close range.
At the back, Daniel Ford, Mitchell Raymond and goalkeeper Joe Naish all excelled for Warmley as they ran out 4-0 victors.
A determined Ashton Boys struck first in game two, only for Rangers' star man Tyrell Squire to equalise. Ashton edged in front but that had the effect of sparking their opponents into action.
Returning ace Jack Sirl evened up matters with a superb strike and further goals from Harry Farrell, Squire and Lewis Silverthorn, with a real cracker, saw them to a 5-2 victory. Billy Elvins had his best game of the season for Warmley, making two superb saves.
The Thornbury Falcons B versus Bradley Stoke United Division B contest was a tale of two games. Falcons were soon into their stride in the first match and four goals apiece from Rogers and Moseley, and single strikes by Stewart and Manley, ensured a 10-0 victory.
Bradley Stoke upped their game in the second encounter and posed plenty of defensive headaches for their opponents.
Bright was outstanding in the Falcons defence and Rodriguez, Wilson and Alexander battled hard. Despite the efforts of Warnock in goal, however, Bradley Stoke ran out 5-0 victors to halve the overall deficit.
In Division C, unbeaten Mangotfield had a 7-2 win over a well-organised Ashton Boys outfit.
A brilliant display by the Ashton keeper in the first game kept the score down to 4-1. Harry Haughton and Isaac Staples scored two goals apiece and Ethan Stevens gave a solid display in defence for Mangotsfield.
In the second match, Edward Baker (2) and Corey Jackson found the net.
Stoke Lane had a 15-1 overall win against AEK Boco B. They built a big first-game platform as two goals each from Theo Cox, Lewis Hedges and Ethan Tucker, a fine solo effort from Thomas Rollings and an excellent hat-trick by Henry Birt saw them to a 10-1 success.
Boco competed well in the second game, but, with Harry Collett in fine form in midfield, Stoke Lane scored five more goals through Sam Haskins (2), Liam Harvie, Harry Edwards and Ethan Ansell.
