Brislington Girls' Plummer ensures it's all square at the top
KEYNSHAM Town Under-15s and close rivals Brislington Girls fought out a 1-1 draw in a pulsating top-of-the-table clash, meaning both sides preserved their unbeaten records.
Ellen Gallegher's turn and speculative curling shot into the top corner of the net put Keynsham in front and they nearly doubled their lead when Chloe Rogers hit an upright.
Emily Plummer missed a chance to put Brislington level when she burst through and forced Gwyn West to pull off a fine save.
It was Brislington's turn to rattle the woodwork when Jelissa Burke's shot cannoned off the post.
Brislington eventually got their reward when Plummer beat the offside trap to neatly tuck the ball away into the bottom left corner of the net before the break.
The second half saw Brislington dominate much of the play but great goalkeeping from West kept out Leigha Milkins and Plummer. Jodie Hooper did beat the in-form keeper but hit the crossbar as the scores remained level.
Bristol Ladies Union Under-14s and Backwell fought out a 2-2 draw in a tense top-of-the-table battle.
Despite the fixture being played on a heavy pitch, two well-equipped sides produced an entertaining contest.
Backwell dominated the first 20 minutes and could have gone into the interval more than just a goal up as resolute defending from Esme Burrows, Jess Caple, Ceri Shepherd and Alex Douglas, plus two superb saves from Steph Bustin, shut them out.
Union pressure at the start of the second half eventually told as Hayley Venus crossed from the right for Leah Tutton to lob the keeper from six yards.
Back came Backwell on the break and a delivery over the top split the Union defence and enabled their striker to restore the lead.
Union weren't finished and with 10 minutes remaining a ball into the box caused panic in the Backwell back ranks and Jazz Williams stabbed home the equaliser.
Dani Shiner and Leigh-Ann Graham scored the goals to give AEK Boco Under-14s a 2-0 win over a resolute Thornbury Falcons side.
Annabelle Colston was a double hat-trick hero as Portishead Juniors A Under-12s surpassed 100 league goals for the season with a 10-2 win over Bristol Ladies Union B.
Colston opened the scoring but Bristol quickly equalised following a fine move and well-struck low shot.
Portishead striker Taylor Gainey struck her first goal of the day to restore the home team's lead before midfielder Erica Marshall extended their advantage with a well-taken goal following a neat pass from Colston.
Leanne Gainey went close for the home side before goals from Colston and Taylor Gainey stretched the lead to 5-1 at half-time.
Portishead started the second half stronger as Colston completed her hat-trick, then added a fourth to make it 7-1. Taylor Gainey then completed her own triple following an attack involving Abbie Taylor, Jennie Mistry and Colston.
Cadie Dunn was commanding in defence alongside dominant keeper Alice Pritchard, while striker Colston had the final say by completing her double hat-trick.
Longwell Green Girls B Under-12s turned in a fabulous performance to secure a well-deserved win over Ashton B.
Ellen Bowditch and Emily Jones tackled and defended well throughout while Ellie Evans made brave saves in a goalless first half.
Playing with the wind in the second half Longwell dominated, with Lauren Griffin and Emily Flowers always probing hard.
The crucial goal arrived when the ball broke in the Ashton box and Lauren Sollis slotted it into the corner of the net.
Longwell continued to have the best of the game, with Victoria Barbour covering much ground and Lauren Griffin and Emily Flowers both going close to netting. As Ashton tried to force a late equaliser, Carly Harmer battled hard in the Longwell midfield.
Brislington B Under-11s were delighted 2-1 victors in a terrific clash with Ashton B.
While the Ashton keeper did well to keep out a string of early assaults, at the other end Brislington's defence looked extremely secure thanks to India Hanoman and Taylor Green.
With Amy Croom, Charlotte Borysuk and Yasmine Kassous working tirelessly, it was left to Mollie Brunyee and Georgia Jones to provide the crucial goals to give second-placed Brislington victory.
Frampton Rangers A Under-10s produced a terrific display to beat an improving and battling Fry's team 9-0.
Rangers rotated their goalies with Rosie Williams, Jess Jefferies and Paige Botta all having a stint between the sticks, while Botta and Williams were also impressive in defence.
Maddison Buss, Ellie Todd, Jefferies, Connie Lanham and Chloe Bragg all had good games in midfield, as did Lauren Penny upfront. Bragg and Penny posed plenty of problems for the Fry's back line and both scored fine hat-tricks. Todd scored a brace and Lanham also netted.
Portishead Juniors Under-10s returned to winning form with a strong performance and 4-0 victory against AEK Boco B.
Player-of-the-match Aimee Morgan fired them in front in the first half following confident moves in midfield involving Kyla Probert and Izzy Batchelor.
Excellent team play by Emily Dickens, Lydia Dias, Eloise Hubbard and Rosie Collings kept Boco at bay, before Chelsea Hill grabbed Portishead's second with a fine individual effort.
A superb Sophie Dumine corner into the box handed Morgan the opportunity to net her second. An own goal completed the scoring.
