The organisers of this weekend's sold-out Brisfest 2012 are urging people without tickets to stay away.

All 20,000 have been snapped up in advance and none will be available on the gate.

Those with tickets are being advised to leave their cars at home and use public transport or specially laid-on Brisfest shuttle-bus services which only festival ticket-holders will be allowed to board.

The event, which features headline act Grammy Award-winning hip-hop trio De La Soul, returns to its spiritual home at Ashton Court today.

It was set up five years ago after the demise of the Ashton Court Festival as a not-for-profit music festival.

There are 11 stages and more than 300 acts over the two days for revellers to choose from, including music from bands such as Hawkwind, Beardyman and Roni Size.

Brisfest was previously held on the harbourside. Gates open today at 12pm at the estate.

“Northcliffe Media fails to use the web properly - again. This is a moan ....

Read the story then, just out of interest because I am going to Brisfest, clicked the highlighted 'transport' link. Useful to remind meself where the shuttle runs from and to, methinks.

No - the link is not to transport for Brisfest. It is an advert, albeit a worthy advert, to a Skoda 'car club'”
