Bridgwater Town 1 Hallen 0

Bridgwater Town boss Leigh Robinson had warned it would not be easy against Hallen in this FA Cup second qualifying round tie – and he was right.

"It was a classic cup-tie – they really came at us," said Robinson, who shares the managerial duties with Craig Laird.

"They were more experienced than us and they gave us a real physical test."

The Toolstation League side were always in with a chance of forcing a replay and were unlucky not to equalise when frontman David Amyinsah got past goalkeeper Sam Hutchings – but was thwarted by desperate defending.

Bridgwater made a flying start, with Graham Mercieca scoring after three minutes.

It should have been the platform for a comfortable victory but Hallen grew in confidence.

Bridgwater could not find a second goal, and the match was in the balance until the end, as the home side earned a £4,500 bonus.
