Bridgwater Town left frustrated by another draw
Bridgwater Town 2 Frome Town 2: Bridgwater need to turn their draws into victories if they are to mount a serious challenge for promotion in Division One South and West of the Zamaretto Southern League.
Although they have lost only one league game this season, they have drawn four of their nine matches.
League newcomers Frome will have been more pleased with a draw, especially as they fell behind to a Marcus Duharty goal after only six minutes.
They were back on level terms after 19 minutes, when Luke Ballinger skipped his way past three players before firing past goalkeeper Sam Hutchings.
Frome went ahead in the 28th minute when Alex Lapham scored with a free-kick from the edge of the penalty area, which crept into the bottom corner.
Bridgwater, without the influential Chris Young and Ben Kirk, came out for the second half with their tails up and Nat Pepperell headed an equaliser in the 59th minute.
Both sides could have won the game in the final half-hour, with Hutchings producing saves to deny Ballinger and Lapham, while Duharty and Brett Trowbridge went close for Bridgwater, the latter missing from six yards right at the end after fine play by Pepperell.
This draw leaves Bridgwater ninth in the table and Frome 15th – but both sides still have enough games and time to make an impact this season.
