Atherstone Town 2 Bridgwater Town 1: Bridgwater are still in with a good chance of winning the Southern League Cup after this narrow defeat in the first leg of the final at Atherstone last night.

Anthony Robinson and Luke Barlone struck to put in-form Atherstone 2-0 up after half an hour's play but Graham Mercieca snapped up an important away goal for Bridgwater right on the stroke of half-time, scoring from close range.

With no scoring in the second half, it leaves the second leg at Fairfax Park on Monday, April 21, evenly poised.

Bridgwater are back in action again tomorrow at home to Bracknell Town in Division One South and West.
