Bridgwater & Albion 23 Havant 15: Bridgwater reached the third round of the EDF Energy National Trophy by beating Havant – but they made hard work of it.

The Hampshire side, bottom of National Division Three South, shocked their hosts after six minutes when Ryan McBride went over. Luke Cozens reduced the arrears with a penalty before lock Simon Morrell put Bridgy ahead.

Havant responded with a Keith Molenux penalty but just before the break the visitors were reduced to 14 men when full-back Karim Lynch was sin-binned for a late tackle on Dan Kemmish.

The hosts went further ahead with a Cozens penalty only for Havant to regain the lead with a Steve Cruddas try. Dave Hallaran broke through from midfield before the ball was worked across to left-winger Alex Lloyd who scored for Albion.

Cozens added another penalty before the Somerset side extended their lead with a Dave Kimberley try.

Cleve bowed out after their under-strength side lost 31-7 at National Division Three South Barking. Centre Nathan Huntley's try was converted by Joe Hall.
