Bridge and Barnes blast Torpedo on the Downs
CRAIG Bridge and Wes Barnes both struck twice to seal a 4-2 success for Winford PH A at Torpedo B in the first round of the GFA Primary Cup on the Downs.
Tyler Hooper hit a hat-trick for Westerleigh Reserves, whose other scorer was Martin Hillard in a 4-1 home win against Golden Hill A, while Warmley United beat Brandon Sports by the same score, thanks to Jamie Tucker (2), Phil Podger and Peter Gamblin. Five goals from Ed Farmer set up a 9-0 romp by Patchway North End Reserves at Cadbury Heath A, while Cribbs Friends Life B beat Wanderers Reserves 3-1 with Rich Stevens (2) and Chris Davies on target.
Bradley Stoke B lost 4-3 at home to strikes by Paul Draper (3) and Alf Smith for Stockwood Wanderers Reserves, while Prince Mubhongo was the hat-trick hero for Greyfriars B, who drew 3-3 with Durdham Down A before winning 5-4 on penalties, with goalkeeper George Ross saving three spot-kicks.
Retainers A went down 7-4 at De Veys Reserves, whose tally was shared by Connor Caddick (3), his brother Graham, Paul Boz, Dan Bryant and Connor Winter.
