Brian Howard frustrated by Millwall versus Bristol City call-off
Brian Howard's chance to impress and earn a Bristol City contract has been wrecked by the weather.
Having trained with City for a week after being released from his contract by Portsmouth, the former Barnsley, Sheffield United and Reading midfielder was due to play in an Under-21 Development League fixture against Millwall on Tuesday night.
But that game has been postponed owing to snowfall in the capital and Howard will continue training with City's first team squad for now.
City head coach Sean O'Driscoll can either decide to offer Howard terms without seeing him play in a competitive fixture or wait until the Under-21s are next in action at home to Brentford on February 19.

“I'm reading on Sky that BH actually approached Barnsley in the possibility of a contract.
Hopefully he won't slip through our fingers but in saying that he has been training with us & already I feel confident in whatever decision SOD arrives at.”

“SOD will only sign him, if he can offer an improvement on what's in the squad already.
That shouldn't be a major problem, as he would only have Kilkenny, for competiton, after the release of Morris.”

“We all know what Howard can do and would be a good buy with his experience at this level, it all comes down to proving his fitness. If he cant play there would be nothing wrong with City offering a rolling contract month to month and put him on the bench in the next game. Maybe the thought of playing for a contract might spur him on to fight.”

“I would suggest they either play here or that we sign Howard on a pay as you pay contract for say, one month with the injuries we have I can't see that being a major problem and if he isn't ready to play games now he may not be a great use until there are less than ten games less.
Calculated risk and not an expensive one as SO'D's seen him train for over a week.”
