Keynsham potter Judd Trump achieved the greatest result of his snooker career this afternoon when he defeated world number one Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-4 in the quarter-finals of the Royal London Watches Grand Prix in Glasgow.

Trump, 19, won the first two frames but some careless errors allowed O'Sullivan back in to level at 2-2.

O'Sullivan conceded a titanic sixth frame to make it 3-3 with the black still to pot, having clawed his way back into contention after needing one snooker.

Trump won the deciding frame in convincing fashion to reach the semi-finals of a ranking event for the first time.
