Brandon Trust appeals for summer camp fundraisers
A Bristol charity behind an activity-packed Almondsbury summer camp for teenagers with learning disabilities is offering spaces to attend this year's event.
The Brandon Trust are running the camp alongside qualified instructors for a maximum of 20 youngsters aged between 14-19, at Woodhouse Park, South Gloucestershire, from August 3 to August 10.

However, The Trust is also appealing for help towards covering the £21,500 of running the week-long getaway. The Trust said the camp takes months of planning and requires a high number of staff to meet the often complex and different needs of the youngsters attending.
This year visitors to the camp will be able to try their hand at archery, cooking, photography, go-karting, orienteering and woodwork in a busy schedule of supervised activities and adventure sports.

Camp organiser and Brandon Trust staff member Janet Humphry has been involved in the project for the past three years and said the break offers those attending a chance to gain independence and confidence.
Ms Humphry said: "This is an important Brandon Trust service, which people really enjoy. The young people that come have a great, fun week. There is so much going on, we have found people really make the camp their own.
"Teenagers from Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire make up the bulk of those attending and many come back year after year. It offers them the chance to meet old friends, and also make new ones.
"She added there is also the opportunity for people to get involved as camp volunteers.
The camp costs £250 per child. For further information on booking a place, or to support the project, contact Ms Humphry on 0117 9528211 or Janet.humphry@brandontrust.org.
