Bradnock bags five for Stoke Lane to edge past Keynsham Town
Hot-shot Gareth Bradnock fired all five goals as Stoke Lane A Under-13s edged a tight Division I encounter with Keynsham Town A 5-3.
Bradnock struck in the first minute to hand Stoke Lane the lead and went on to net three more times in the last five minutes of an even first half.
Keynsham's Josh Rice started his side's fightback with two goals in the second period before Bradnock scored his and Stoke Lane's fifth to make the game safe.
Chris Courtney grabbed a late third for Keynsham but it was too little, too late.
Brislington Juniors battled back from a 2-0 half-time deficit to earn a point from a 2-2 draw with Bristol Gladiators.
The visitors opened the scoring on eight minutes with a fierce Leon Clayton Clarke strike and a second goal by Charlie Williams appeared to put Gladiators firmly in command.
Brislington pulled a goal back early into the second half when Josh Jones flicked a well-delivered corner by Ryan Mitchell into far corner of the net.
The equaliser came when Ross Liddington's superb threaded pass set Luca Porcaro away down the left and he squared the ball into the box for Grantley Ferris to finish at the back post.
Yate Rangers A and Whitchurch Sports drew 1-1 in a lively Division II contest.
Yate took a first-half lead when the energetic Zac Cox's surging run and cross was perfect for the on-rushing skipper Daniel Brown to score.
Chances in the second half were limited with both defences on top, but Whitchurch equalised from a free-kick which caused confusion in the Yate defence and led to Mickey Parson slotting home.
Rangers' man-of-the-match Brown only just missed scoring a winner with a curling left-foot effort.
Kurtis Luke, Darius Kiedowski, Mitchell Hale and Ben Greenaway were strong in defence for Rangers, while midfielders Thomas Iles, William Lane and Jack Dwyer also did well.
Avon Athletic B roared to an emphatic 8-2 victory over St Nicholas A in the same division.
The bobbly pitch affected both sides in an even opening period. Avon finally went 2-0 ahead through Dan Davison and then used the wind behind them in the second half to score a flurry of goals through Connor Matthews (2), Rory Langdon (2), Alex Miners and Lewis Thompson Quance.
Saints were rewarded for their efforts with two late goals but Avon deserved the points.
Matthews put in a strong performance in Avon's midfield, setting up two goals and scoring twice, while Davison unsettled the visitors with his pace and direct finishing before having to leave the field with a twisted knee.
Marley Bennett came on at left-back in the second half for Avon and produced a reliable performance.
Highridge United played the entire game with only 10 men but still had the strength and determination to overcome Ingleside 3-1 away in a mid-table Division IV contest.
United fought their way into a 2-0 half-time lead thanks to goals by Lewis Carroll and Connor Jones, before the latter netted his second after the break to put them firmly in command.
Ingleside pulled one back late on but outstanding defending by the visitors ensured there was no way back.
Rockleaze Rangers made it seven home Division IV wins out of seven with an excellent 6-2 victory over a spirited Broad Plain Sports team.
The hosts started brightly and deservedly took the lead after 10 minutes with a well-worked goal from Pat Spokes. The advantage was doubled with a stunning 25-yard strike from Harry Persad, which gave visiting keeper Nathan Baber no chance.
Baber made a string of fine saves as Broad Plain battled back strongly, forcing a great stop from Rockleaze keeper Sam Green, before Ollie Lloyd scored a superb goal to give the home side a three-goal half-time lead.
Tom Adams and Ollie Lock added further goals for Rangers after the break before Ross Bates latched on to a well-executed through ball to score a cracking goal for Broad Plain, who further reduced the arrears through Sam Stokes.
However, Rockleaze had the final say when a fine team move culminated in Charlie Taylor tapping in their sixth.
Shire Colts B overcame very cold conditions and Yate Rangers B with a 6-2 Division V win.
Shire fell behind within minutes of kick-off, but after that initial scare they soon got into their stride, scoring five first-half goals through Jotham Bowyer (2), Sam Khavandi, Dan Warren and George West.
Bowyer continued to be in the right place at the right time in the second half to complete his hat-trick before Yate fought back to score their second goal.
With Ben Mogg working hard in the Shire midfield, Alex Darby strong in defence and keeper Mike Battersby in excellent form, there was no way back for Yate.
Skipper James Batt scored five goals as Southmead CS secured another crucial three points with a 7-1 victory over Longwell Green Sports to stay top of the Division V table.
Full-back Mark Asuncion enjoyed a solid match for the winners and striker Ryan Connolly scored a good goal to reward his hard-working performance. Josh Palmer added the seventh for Southmead with a great strike from a free-kick.
