Bradley Stoke fireworks success
Bradley Stoke's firework display has been hailed a great success, raising thousands of pounds for charity.
The council-run 7th annual event "exceeded all expectations" as record crowds braved the cold to watch the Jubilee Centre display. Between 5,000 and 6,000 attended on Sunday.
Councillor Mark Forsyth, Town Mayor, whose chosen charities benefit from the public donations, said: "We're really pleased with the turnout, and the public have been most generous, I know that BLESMA and the Bristol Dyslexia Centre will be most grateful."
No formal admission was charged for the event but collections raised £4,250.80, more than twice the amount raised last year.
The display itself, by professional display firm Kimbolton fireworks, lasted 18 minutes.
Jade Liu, of Honeysuckle Close said: "I really enjoyed the fireworks, I especially like the one which shot straight from the ground in a big golden fan shape. There was also a good atmosphere I am looking forward to going next year."
