Boxing champ to judge Southmead karaoke contest
T omorrow is the Grand Final of the Southmead Karaoke Contest, at the Community Centre on Greystoke Avenue – and it promises to be an unmissable event.
Seven talented local singers, aged from 11 to 65, will be competing in the grand final, under the celebrity judges' eye. We are particularly lucky to have Glenn Catley, former WBC World Middleweight Champion, as one of the judges.
But that's not all. As well as the Karaoke Grand Final, there is an afternoon of great family entertainment lined up, including Southmead's very own Southmead Pride Majorettes and Ds Streets Hip Hop Dance Troop. These are just two of the groups sponsored by Southmead Pride, which is funded largely by the hugely popular "Southmead Carol Bus Appeal."
The Southmead Carol Bus Appeal was set up and organised by local man, Cliff Howell, of Cliff's Florists on Greystoke Avenue. Over the years, he has raised thousands of pounds for local groups, helping clubs including The Treble Chance Football Club, Bristol Dragons Karate Club and Southmead Pride CSC. The work Cliff puts into the community and the results he has achieved are an inspiration.
So come along and see Southmead's finest voices battle it out in our own Southmead's Got Talent, from 3pm at Southmead Community Centre on Greystoke Avenue. Tickets just £5. For more information, call Cliff's Florists on 0117 959 3999
