Boston Tea Party expands to Birmingham
A BRISTOL company has expanded its growing empire to Birmingham.
The Boston Tea Party Group, which has its headquarters in Park Street, has let a former landmark bar in Birmingham near the city's Queen Elizabeth Law Courts from La Salle Investment Management.
The building has been home to a number of short-lived ventures since it closed in 2008 but now taken on a ten-year lease on a commencing rental of £37,500 per annum.
Ed Purcell, retail surveyor at Cushman & Wakefield in Birmingham, said: "Boston Tea Party has spent a lot of money fitting out 190 Corporation Street and we are pleased to have finally secured the future of this famous old building."

“When I queued up for a coffee in the one on Park Street the staff seemed much more interested in talking among themselves. Never been back since.”

“@katachua
I have no idea what you're talking about regarding trustafarians. I've occasionally visited the one in Bath and the one in Park Street and I like their coffee. Is there some political reason you have that means I shouldn't go in there?
And yes, if it became a PLC I would be less likely to go in there because statistically speaking PLCs are more likely to siphon money out of the country to offshore accounts. Again, please advise if you think that encouraging money to stay in the local economy, as opposed to the global financial casino, is wrong.”

“@Tiny_Steve
"Wow, so much negativity towards a local business doing well. Have people nothing better to do than whinge and moan?
Presumably people prefer national chains, where the money goes to offshore tax avoiding bank accounts rather than to local people?"
So when the Bristol Trustafarian becomes the British Trustafarian plc, you'll stop using it?”

“Maybe it should be renamed the Bristol Trustafarian?”

“Definately cannot open one on Gloucester Road, far too many coffee shops.
One on Stokes Croft it fine though, It can't be a chain if white people with dreadlocks sit outside all day sipping esspressos, eating walnut bread and thinking up 'community art festivals'”

“Does this mean that it's now part of a chain, and should have bricks thrown through its windows?”
