Boreham proves an all-round hit for Rockleaze
Avon Youth League Under-12s: Rockleaze Rangers moved to the top of Under-12 Division V with just three games left to play with a hard-earned 4-3 home victory over previous leaders Thornbury Falcons.
The fine centre-back partnership of Finley Wilks and Jack Boreham did well to cope with a potent visiting attack, while Boreham capped a brilliant all-round display with a goal from a well delivered free-kick.
The consistent midfield dynamo Cameron Scott kept up his recent run of scoring with a sublime finish, Rob Yard was on target with an audacious lob and the effervescent Callum Martin struck the fourth. The home side were also indebted to hard-working performances from Matt Sledge and Alex Pestell.
Bristol United B beat Shire Colts B 6-1 in another Division V fixture to gain revenge for last week's defeat by the same opponents.
Matt Braybrooke netted twice and was joined on the scoresheet by Jordan Rashid- Morgan, Ben Jenkins, Josh Kay and Joseph Sterling.
In Division II, FDS Bristol kept in contention for the title with a 5-1 victory over Brislington Juniors at Netham Park.
It was FDS's fifth straight win and moves them up to third spot, seven points behind leaders Longwell Green with four games in hand.
FDS started brightly and opened the scoring after just three minutes when Josh Morgan-Williams fired home a penalty.
The home side doubled their lead following a corner when Myles Cammock-Jones blasted in with a close-range volley. Another volley just before the break saw Morgan-Williams net his second and FDS's third.
Brislington rallied early in the second half and pulled a goal back through Liam Fackrell. But further strikes from Lewis Sutcliffe and a fine solo effort from Morgan-Williams to complete his hat-trick meant FDS ran out comfortable winners.
Bromley Heath United picked up three points in Division II against a strong Coalpit Heath United side, winning 2-0.
Bromley's defence had to stand firm as Heath had most of the possession in the first half but Loryan Nolan struck on the counter attack to give them a 1-0 half-time lead.
In the second half Bromley started to win more of the ball and create more chance as Heath became increasingly frustrated.
Bromley doubled their advantage when Matt Weymouth capped a fine move with a stunning shot from just inside the penalty area
