MEMBERS of an RAF Bomber Command crew – who between them flew 250 missions during World War Two – made a special visit to Clevedon Pier.

Warrant officer and Lancaster Rear Gunner Dave Fellowes, who flew 33 operations during the conflict, was among the group who made the visit to promote an event on the Victorian landmark next month.

Members of the RAF Bomber Command crew are to visit the pier again on May 16 from 4pm to 8pm for a special event to raise money for the Bomber Command Memorial Fund.

There will be a sale of books, print and other memorabilia from World War Two for sale on the pier, which crew will be available to sign.

The money raised will go to the upkeep of a new memorial at London's Green Park to honour the 55,573 men of Bomber Command who lost their lives in World War Two.

The memorial is now under construction and is due to be completed in time for a dedication and unveiling ceremony on June 28.

Clevedon Piermistress Linda Strong said: "It was fantastic to welcome members of the crew to the pier and I am hoping lots of people will come along and support the fundraising event on May 16."

    “*** g02 8/8 p. 11 Learning From First-Century Christians ***
Soon God will "bring to ruin those ruining the earth" and will replace this present violent world with a new world in which "righteousness is to dwell." (Revelation 11:18; 2 Peter 3:10-13) Then, for those who remain, "he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." (Revelation 21:1-4) Wars and violence will be gone forever, as the prophecy at Isaiah 2:4 will be realized to the full: "They will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears (Weapons of war). Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore." You too can enjoy that marvelous, everlasting future if you learn from the lessons of history.—John 17:3. Even in your own personal Bible it say this too.”
