Body found near Burnham sailing club
Police paramedics, coastguards and two lifeboats were called out after a man's body was found near Burnham Sailing Club.
The body was found shortly after 7pm on Bank Holiday Monday floating in the water near the mouth of the River Brue and Parrett.
Police sealed off an area around the sailing club including several footpaths, while the body was recovered.
Avon and Somerset Police's Deputy Inspector Marc Jobson said: "I can confirm that the body of a middle-aged adult male has been recovered from the river estuary.
"The circumstances surrounding the death are unconfirmed and a post mortem will take place on Tuesday.
"It appears that the body had been in the water some weeks."
