Blood, guts and zombies
Last year, London's blood- splattered FrightFest came to Bristol for the first time, treating us to the notorious The Human Centipede among other sick delights. The inaugural all-nighter proved to be such a success, with a full house of bleary eyed and gore-sated punters tumbling out into cruel daylight after ten hours of hack'n'slash, that they're doing it all again.
Running from 9pm on Saturday, November 3, to 7am on Sunday, November 4, at the Watershed, the Bristol FrightFest boasts five revolting features interspersed with sinister shorts, including the Bristol-set zombie apocalypse drama Blaise and a selection programmed by the Encounters festival. It all kicks off with the eagerly anticipated Excision (pictured) – the story of a delusional teenage outcast who decides to perform a risky operation to save her sister's life.
Other highlights include Highlander director Russell Mulcahy's delicious slice of shark attack nonsense, Bait 3D; The Tall Man, Pascal Laughier's follow-up to his gloriously unpleasant Martyrs; and found footage slasher flick The Helpers.
FrightFest tickets cost £35/£30 from the Watershed box office. For a small extra fee, you can book a Bloody Breakfast to be served while the last onscreen corpse is still warm. Mercifully, there's also a vegetarian option.

Who better to write a script about phone sex than a former phone sex operator?
Enterprising Katie Anne Naylon ran a phone sex business out of her dorm room when she was a US college student.
Even though she was a virgin at the time, she learned about the, erm, quirks of male sexuality very quickly indeed. Much of this has been recycled into her script for For a Good Time, Call…, a raunchy female-centric comedy which is inevitably being sold as the new Bridesmaids.
The story follows chalk-and- cheese roommates Kate (Ari Graynor) and Lauren (Naylon's pal and co-writer Lauren Ann Miller), who are thrown together because neither can afford the rent on their luxury apartment alone.
To make ends meet they turn to the phone sex business, putting on dramatic performances for the benefit of sweaty-palmed male callers.
You might recognise two of the punters as they're played by film director Kevin Smith and raunchcom regular Seth Rogan, who just happens to be Miller's real-life husband.
Touchingly, the couple previously explored aspects of the sex industry together in Smith's Zack and Miri Make a Porno, in which Miller was cast in a bit part. Her character was identified only as "Moaner and Groaner".
